Firmness is a preference.
Soft, Medium, Firm and Extra Firm describe the feel you are choosing. Thickness, the cover and the support beneath the cushion all influence the result.
Foam, fibre and a little knowledge. Understand what each material brings to your cushion, and choose a construction that suits you.
Compare the fillings ↗Our foam comes from UK manufacturers, including suppliers in Middleton, Greater Manchester. It is cut, assembled and finished at the Bacup factory.
The fibre used in our cushion interiors is made from recycled plastic bottles. It creates a soft, loose filling that can be plumped and re-dressed inside its casing.
Foam offcuts from production are collected for conversion into reconstituted foam, finding another use in products such as carpet underlay.

Density describes weight for a given volume. It is one part of a material’s specification, rather than a shortcut for firmness or a promise of a particular lifespan.
A fibre jacket softens the surface around a shaped foam core. A loose fibre insert has a more relaxed outline. Choose the construction as well as the feel.
Confidence starts with knowing what you are ordering, and continues through the way it is made.
Review the dimensions, orientation, filling, finish and quantity of every piece. Edit a saved piece with its choices already loaded.
Material information and finished pieces are checked against the chosen specification, with attention to the shape, measurements and finishing.
If a piece arrives faulty, damaged or different from the agreed specification, we’ll assess the issue and work to put it right. Keep your reference and photographs so the problem can be understood clearly.
How an interior wears depends on the material, construction, cushion depth and everyday use. Foam and fibre also need different kinds of care.
Fibre benefits from regular plumping. Rotating suitable cushions can help spread use, and following the cover’s own care instructions helps keep the whole cushion in good condition.
